The stories are told quite colloquially, in a chatty, entertaining style. It is possible this gave the author the idea for a whole collection. The seed of the idea lies in the story 'How Fear Came,' within Rudyard Kipling's 'Second Jungle Book' of 1895, when Mowgli hears the story of how the tiger got his stripes.
